DON FAIRLESS
16-06-1927
- Outstanding sportsman, citizen, sports administrator, businessman and community supporter
- Grew up on an orchard at Shepparton East and played football with the Shepparton East team including premierships in 1945 and 1948. Lifelong supporter of Shepparton East and honoured with life membership of the club
- A key member of the Central Park Development Committee since 1948. Worked tirelessly to support the development of the area from a paddock into a top sporting complex
- Top line cyclist and professional runner. Defeated world champion cyclist Sid Patterson in an amateur wheel race at Benalla, prior to taking up professional running
- Invited to run in the Australian 880 yards championship event at Kardinia Park in Geelong
- Winner of several 880 yard races including the New Year’s Day carnival at Deakin Reserve, Shepparton
- Life member of the Shepparton Cycling Club, promoter and organiser of the development of a first class cycling velodrome in Shepparton
- Great supporter of junior cycling, providing bikes for new members of the club
- Board member of the Shepparton Preserving Company
- Proudly supported the cycling career of his son Stephen as an Olympic cyclist and a world veterans cycling champion

BRETT LANCASTER
15-11-1979
- Shepparton’s most successful athlete, commenced cycling with the Shepparton Cycle Club at the age of fourteen, excelling at both track and road racing
- Represented Australia at 3 Olympic Games (Sydney 2000, Athens 2004 and Beijing 2008) winning the Team Pursuit gold medal in record time in Athens.
Gold Medallist in the team pursuit at the 1998 Commonwealth Games - Won the Team Pursuit at the 1998 World Titles
- Competed six times in the Tour de France, winning the Team Time Trial in 2013, with team mate Simon Gerrans wearing the yellow leader’s jersey
- Competed nine times in the “Giro d’ Italia” winning the team time trial in 2014 and 2015. Wore the pink Jersey (maglia rosa) as tour leader after winning the prologue in 2005
- Won the world championship in the Team Pursuit at the 2002 (world record time), and 2003 world track championships
- Won stage 2 of the Tour of California in 2010
- Presented with an Order of Australia Medal in 2005
- Selected as a key member of the inaugural Australian ORICA GreenEDGE
professional cycling team

BRUCE QUICK

- Champion pistol shooter with Shepparton Pistol Club
- Competed at two Olympic Games (Athens 2004 and Beijing 2008) in the Rapid Fire event
- Competed at six Commonwealth Games (Auckland 1990, Kuala Lumpur 1998,
Manchester 2002, Melbourne 2006, Delhi 2010 and Glasgow 2014) - Won a total of 14 Commonwealth Games Medals. (1 Gold, 10 Silver and 3 Bronze)
- Won six Gold, two Silver and nine Bronze Medals in the Oceanian shooting
championships - Competed in Rapid Fire, Centre Fire and Standard Fire pistol events
- Won a Commonwealth Games Bronze Medal with partner David Chapman in the pair’s event
- One of only six athletes to have represented Australia six times at
Commonwealth Games.

CHRISTINE DOBSON

- First Shepparton Hockey Association player to represent Australia at the
Olympic Games - Played for the Windangs Hockey Club in Shepparton Hockey Association
- Represented the Shepparton Hockey Association
- Selected to represent Victoria and played State Hockey from 1983 – 1993
- Selected to represent Australia in the National Hockey team
- Played 55 games of international hockey for the Australian team
- Scored 6 goals for Australian hockey team
- Won a silver medal in 1990 Hockey World Cup
- Represented Australia in the hockey team for the 1992 Barcelona Olympic Games
